Clojure Developer [Open Role]

Job description

You’ll be joining a company that has technology and product at its heart and a place where you’ll have the potential to have a huge impact on the lives of our users. As an engineer at Wefarm you’ll be working in a highly collaborative environment where you’ll get a chance to experience the entire product development process and help define and shape the Wefarm product offering as we grow.

We're an experienced and supportive team that takes a modern, pragmatic approach to building software (borrowing tips from XP, agile, kanban and lean methodologies as needed).

In the first 6 months you will:

  • Work in a cross-functional product team to help deliver product goals as defined by our quarterly OKRs
  • Collaborate with your colleagues to continually ensure we’re building a high quality, maintainable and scalable system
  • Work closely with our teams in East Africa and your product manager to help define and breakdown requirements
  • Become comfortable working across the stack, in a (mostly) clojure based codebase.
  • Deliver Continuously - We have no staging environment, so we rely on smart testing, monitoring and rapid deployments

Requirements

You are passionate about technology and a keen learner, looking for a new challenge. While our codebase in mostly clojure based, having prior clojure experience isn’t a prerequisite. Our friendly team of engineers will help you get up to speed in no time.

In return we offer you:

  • You’ll be joining at an exciting stage of the company and have a real chance to influence the product and the company’s direction
  • Participate in our week-long annual global get-together (WeCamp)
  • A chance to join an experienced, friendly and supportive team of engineers that will help you grow your skills
  • A generous training budget where everyone is encouraged to think about their personal development
  • A flexible WFH policy
  • A laptop, and any other hardware required to do your best work

Rewards package and remuneration

The total rewards package and remuneration will be based on experience and potential, but is highly competitive and will include share options. We believe in our team being not only the executors of Wefarm’s visions but the makers and owners of it!

As a global business, travel is essential to who we are, and will be a perk (and requirement) of the job. We also host an annual whole company get together (Wecamp), previously held in Kenya and Uganda. In addition, we have flexible working environment (within reason of course!), and we value spending time together - boarding the weekly lunch train, sharing some drinks on a Friday and frequent social events throughout the year.

Unfortunately, we will only be able to respond to shortlisted candidates.
