Wefarm, the world’s largest farmer-to-farmer digital network, enables farmers to connect with one another over SMS to solve problems, share ideas and spread innovation, utilising the latest machine learning technology to enable this connection.

 

Small-scale agriculture is the biggest industry on earth, with more than a billion farmers globally supplying 70% of the world's food and commodities, yet remaining digitally unconnected. Until Wefarm, no other had built a digital platform for these farmers to share their vital insights, without having to go online!

 

Since our launch in 2015 we have grown to serve 1.9 million farmers across the world, who share more than 30,000 Qs & As a per day. Wefarm has raised investment from some of the world’s leading VCs, including True Ventures in Silicon Valley, and we are looking to add to a world-class team based across London, Nairobi, Kampala and Dar-es-Salaam.

The Role

We are looking to begin building our in-house creative team, and are looking for an experienced designer as our first hire to help define and build out our visual identity and creative across multiple audiences and channels. You will be excited about engaging deeply with Wefarm’s mission to build an ecosystem for small-scale farmers globally at one of the UK’s fastest-growing startups, and will be able to work and support the teams to deliver inspiring and resonating campaigns in all markets in which we operate. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Help to define our creative direction, as we look to bring our brand to life and positively showcase the entrepreneurial and collaborative nature of our farmers and community.
  • Being able to develop illustrative creative as well as guiding our photography style in a way that ensures it always feels consistent and on brand.
  • Develop assets and campaigns that convey our mission across multiple channels, such as digital ads, our website, social, out of home billboards, catalogues, point of sale etc.
  • Ensure assets can also work across multiple stakeholders and contexts, which span from farmers, retailers, partners, employees, investors, and the press
  • When necessary with with local agencies or employees to be able to ensure creative works in all countries and languages.
  • Collaborate closely with teams like Growth, Operations and Product to ensure a consistent visual tone of voice is in place across the company

Job requirements

  • At least 3 years experience as a designer, ideally with experience in, or knowledge, of startups.
  • Proven track record of being able to deliver strategies and campaigns across multiple audiences and countries.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders across the business
  • Experience of working with agencies and translators

The total rewards package and remuneration will be based on experience and potential, but is highly competitive and will include share options. We believe in our team being not only the executors of Wefarm’s visions but the makers and owners of it!

 

As a global business, travel is essential to who we are, and will be a perk of the job. We also host an annual whole company offsite (Wecamp), previously held in Kenya and Uganda. In addition, we have a generous pension package, flexible working environment (within reason of course!), and we value spending time together - boarding the weekly lunch train, and frequent social events throughout the year.
