Wefarm, the world’s largest farmer-to-farmer digital network, enables farmers to connect with one another over SMS to solve problems, share ideas and spread innovation, utilising the latest machine learning technology to enable this connection.

Small-scale agriculture is the biggest industry on earth, with more than a billion farmers globally supplying 70% of the world's food and commodities, yet remaining digitally unconnected. Until Wefarm, no other had built a digital platform for these farmers to share their vital insights, without having to go online!

 

Since our launch in 2015 we have grown to serve 1.9 million farmers across the world, who share more than 30,000 Qs & As a per day. Wefarm has raised investment from some of the world’s leading VCs, including True Ventures in Silicon Valley, and we are looking to add to a world-class team based across London, Nairobi, Kampala and Dar-es-Salaam.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced brand expert who is able to lead on the overall development of the brand strategy for Wefarm across all channels and audiences. You will be excited about engaging deeply with Wefarm’s mission to build an ecosystem for small-scale farmers globally at one of the UK’s fastest-growing startups, and be able to build the brand playbook and campaigns to reach and inspire farmers, B2B partners and potential employees alike, in all markets in which we operate. While over time you will build a team at the company, you will also have to be comfortable initially building and executing the strategy directly yourself with support from in market teams and agencies.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • By deeply understand the needs of our farmers, customers and partners, develop the brand strategy to effectively connect and convey the value proposition and benefits of joining being part of the Wefarm community.
  • Build and maintain the brand architecture, visual identity and messaging framework that can be used across all touchpoints with the brand (out of home, digital, point of sale, collateral, events etc), and with all audiences (farmers, customers, partners and employees).
  • Based on the business needs, develop measurable brand campaigns that drive impact across acquisition, engagement and retention.
  • Work closely with the marketing teams to support in-market campaigns, and ensure that insight are fed into the brand development so the brand is both relevant and consistent across all markets in which we operate.
  • Develop out our approach to agency vs in-house support for brand creative and campaigns in both the short and long term as we build out the team.
  • Collaborate across all teams in the business to ensure a unified approach to the brand is taken, so that whether you’re reading a newspaper article, seeing is on a billboard, hearing us on radio, using the product, or visiting our careers page, we always act, sound, look, and feel like one consistent brand.

Job requirements

  • At least 5 years experience in brand marketing, ideally with experience in, or knowledge, of startups.
  • Proven track record of being able to deliver strategies and campaigns across multiple audiences and countries.
  • Team management and development experience.
  • Experience in managing a mixture of agencies and budgets

 

Rewards package and remuneration

The total rewards package and remuneration will be based on experience and potential, but is highly competitive and will include share options. We believe in our team being not only the executors of Wefarm’s visions but the makers and owners of it!

As a global business, travel is essential to who we are, and will be a perk of the job. We also host an annual whole company offsite (Wecamp), previously held in Kenya and Uganda. In addition, we have a generous pension package, flexible working environment (within reason of course!), and we value spending time together - boarding the weekly lunch train, sharing some drinks on a Friday and frequent social events throughout the year.
