About us

Wefarm, the world’s largest farmer-to-farmer digital network, enables farmers to connect with each other and key partners over SMS to solve problems, share ideas, obtain vital products and services, and spread innovation, through utilising the latest machine learning technology.


Small-scale agriculture is the biggest industry on earth, with more than a billion farmers globally supplying 70% of the world's food and commodities, yet remaining digitally unconnected. Until Wefarm, no other had built a digital platform for these farmers to share their vital insights, without having to go online!


Since our launch in 2015 we have grown to serve 1.9 million farmers across the world, who share more than 30,000 Qs & As per day. Wefarm has recently secured $13 million in Series A funding from some of the world’s leading VCs, including True Ventures in Silicon Valley, and we are looking to add to a world-class team based across London, Nairobi, Kampala and Dar-es-Salaam.

The role

The Senior People Manager will be instrumental in taking some of our informal frameworks and refining them into scalable processes, from onboarding to performance through to learning and development. To help build, develop and empower our teams through the growth required to solidify our position as the number one digital ecosystem for farmers in the world.


More specifically you will:

  • Lead on the Employee Lifecycle at Wefarm, with an initial focus on building and introducing a scalable, lightweight Performance & Evaluation system, ensuring our people-focused culture is at the front and centre of the employee experience.
  • Work in partnership with the management team to establish skill gaps and develop effective training solutions and initiatives, mentoring, and succession planning across the business.
  • Research, scope, recommend and implement global people strategies and initiatives that will complement the evolving needs of the business, including productivity and communications.
  • Support Hiring Managers to ensure alignment and effective recruitment and onboarding processes, across teams, and countries.
  • Build and implement company policies, ensuring they are values-driven and fit for purpose at each stage of our growth, across existing and new regional offices.

Requirements

You are passionate about people and excited about being part of a high growth global company. More specifically you’ll have:

  • At least 3 years in HR/People functions, ideally in rapid-growth tech companies.
  • Experience building and implementing lightweight HR processes at scale.
  • A proven track record of implementing and leading a performance-based culture & providing training and support to managers.
  • An analytical mindset, and are a talented communicator, as well as approachable and empathetic.
  • You have experience working across multiple locations and in the context of a matrix structure.

The total rewards package and remuneration will be based on experience and potential, but is highly competitive and will include share options. We believe in our team being not only the executors of Wefarm’s visions but the makers and owners of it!


As a global business, travel is essential to who we are, and will be a perk of the job. We also host an annual whole company get together (Wecamp), previously held in Kenya and Uganda. In addition, we have a generous pension package, flexible working environment (within reason of course!), and we value spending time together - boarding the weekly lunch train, sharing some drinks on a Friday and frequent social events throughout the year.
